CAIHS Monday Morning Message

Week of 12/06/21

A Message from Mr. Maloney

Good Morning CAIHS Families,

The cold months have a arrived and I want to remind everyone to dress for the weather. I recommend having the students wear layers if they want to stay warm while coming into school and then they can take off the layers once they warm up. As a reminder students are not permitted to have blankets in school. They are not allowed to walk the hallways with a blanket. Blankets will be confiscated from students who has a blanket.

We are still working on having students get to class on time. They have three minutes to get to each class and that is enough time for all students to transition. Getting to every scheduled class on time is extremely important and that also includes lunch. Students are not permitted to come to lunch late or walk the hallways during lunch. We need everyone in their assigned area. Please have a conversation with your child about being on time and not walking late to class. We are continuing to complete hall sweeps to ensure that students are hustling to class. As a reminder, students that are coming from CASH have an extra two minutes to class.

Student of the Month

Congratulations to our November Student of the Month, Zaida Raison. There were 9 students that earned 5 or more ROCKs in the month of November: David Sharp, Bella DiMatteo, Khalid Brake, Jesus Candelas, Myra Matukaitis, Josh Shoemaker, Ganashia White, Zaida Raison, and Colin Smith. We received feedback from our teachers, and Zaida was chosen. Here is what teachers had to say.

Zaida Raison 110%!

Zaida sits in my front row and truly tries her best, asks questions, and wants to learn. She is a great candidate for student of the month.

Zaida Raison-Ealy is my nomination for Student of the month! She is a leader, hard worker and encourages her classroom peers to stay on task. It has been a pleasure working with her this school year! Congratulations, Zaida. We are very proud of you. Keep up the great work.

Employee of the Month

Congratulations to our Employee of the Month for November, Mr. James Bookman. "JB" is our head custodian, and we are so lucky to have him on our building. We are so fortunate to have him here every day doing everything and anything he is asked to keep our school clean and safe. He is asked to do many things throughout the day and always seem to get right on it and do it with a smile.

The custodial position is so very important to the daily operation of our school and sometimes we just take it for granted. They are the "unsung heroes" who come in everyday, do their job and are always around to help. For ALL that they do, I wanted them to know that we appreciate them very much.

Monthly ROCK Prize Winners

261 ROCKs were earned during the month of November! As you read earlier, 9 students earned 5 or more ROCKs. We also had many first-time winners this month as well. 30 ROCKs were pulled on November 30th. Those students were called to the office to choose from various prizes. Some examples of those rewards are: Ice Cream, Snacks, Door Dash certificate, $5 school store gift card, "Fast Pass" for lunch, 1/2 Day to shadow a member of the PBIS team, and $5 gift cards to local restaurants.

Congratulations to our November Prize Winners: Jeniyah Hunt, Isaac Allen, Landry Bender, Abrielle Butler, Eric Cooper-Cruz, Anabella Vitelli, Rayne Hughes, Eric Murphy, Cadyn Gooding, Alexis Pepple, Colin Smith, Madesyn Fogg, Preston Miranda, Josh Davis, Dominic Flores, Abby Hilton, Lawrence Beckett, Raylynn Bango, Mohammad Willie, Colin Reiland, Jaylen Jackson, Malakai Link, Sarah Linares, Josiah Greer, Nayim Jones, Allie Koch, Michael Hertzog, Cyncere Brown-Bell, Carmen Guadarrama-Flores, and Josiah Shihadeh. Congratulations to all our students. Keep up the great work. You ROCK!

Mask Update

There is no mask update, we are all still mandated to wear a mask in school. The mask must be over the students nose and mouth at all times except for eating and drinking. Students are not permitted to wear ski masks in place of the medical masks. We are trying to ensure that everyone is safe and we do not want to quarantine students because they did not have their masks up during the school day. I know that everyone is tired but we are all in the same boat and must comply with the rules.

Alumni Return to Speak with Students

AFJROTC cadets recently learned about the US Military Academy at West Point New York and the US Naval Academy at Annapolis Maryland when two Coatesville graduates came back to share their experiences and explain the application process. Cadet Patrick McManamon who is attending the US Military Academy and John Clifford III who is attending the US Naval Academy took time from their Thanksgiving break to speak with the cadets and enlighten them on the opportunity to attend these prestigious institutions.
